London Victorian townhouse
Stylish storage ideas to maximise your space
In the UK, particularly in cities and urban areas, our homes are not generally blessed with oodles of storage. More often than not, our houses are short on space – and if there's a loft or basement conversion, many wonder where they're going to stash bikes, snow boards and other sports equipment. So when we were asked for help by a private client with their London home, we were onto it. We needed to max out every precious centimetre. The client's brief was to be functional, whilst creating a focal point. Specifically they wanted fitted cupboards in the basement, vanity unit in the bathroom, TV unit in the family room and an eye-catching bookcase in the home office. To give them something truly unique we looked at innovative materials and finishes including specialist veneering, liquid metal and stained timber. And we added the all-important feature lighting. The job wasn't without it's tests, including a particularly tricky basement jib door. We love a challenge though, and 20 years of experience means we can always find a solution. And we think the end result is just stunning - more importantly, so did the client.
